Black Sand Magnets
There are a few indispensable tools in the miners bag and one would be the black sand magnet. Extracting black sand from waste sands and gravels is relatively easy but removing the gold from this magnetic sand isn't as easy as it seems. Simply dropping a magnet into the sand will remove the bulk of this unwanted magnetite, but it will also pull out a fair amount of fine gold with the sand.
This is where technique and experience pay off nicely. I will also mention that getting the magnetic sand on the magnet isn't hard, but removing it is another story unless you have the right type of magnet.
